If it's not considered too personal, I think it would be interesting to share what you spent (roughly) on this journey and any general budget/planning tips. When you were departing you mentioned a rough budget to me and it struck me as surprisingly low. While I'm sure it crept up a bit on the way, it might surprise a few folks just how far you can go with a decent budget, patience, and a tolerance for hostels. Especially if someone is single and sitting in a high cost city whittling away their savings after a layoff, perhaps you can inspire them to hit the road instead! Hey Mike — Amazing recap. Stoyan, I'm not a big fan of cruises for a few reasons. First, because I personally tend to get seasick more than the average bear, so I don't like to spend time on the high seas when I can avoid it. Secondly, I despise the feeling of seeing a place with 300-400 or so of my closest "friends" when we all have 30 minutes to get back on the bus to get back on the boat. That's my impression of touring via cruise ship, after having been inundated by them in a few places along the way. Only "cruise" I did was to Antarctica from Argentina, and only because that was the only way to get there.
